Tired of driving a car or getting around in public transport on bustling Singapore roads? Ever thought of going out on a boat to explore the beautiful surrounding islands or go deep-sea fishing? Well, think no more and get started on your Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence Course conducted at Water-Venture(Changi).

This training course comprises of both theory and practical lessons, structured according to the requirements and standards set by the Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA).

Introduction

Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licenses (PPCDL) are required for those who wish to venture beyond the local shores in any motorised craft, be it for Jet Skiing or Power boating. Come learn sea traffic rules and the practicalities of piloting boats, and be equipped for a lifetime of adventure on the high seas. Certification

PPCDL Course Syllabus
The main objective of the Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence Course is to train participants in the safe handling of powered pleasure crafts (which include powerboats registered under “SZ” and “SZH”) within the port limits of Singapore.

Both the theory and practical session are conducted in English only . Conduct in accordance to the guidelines stipulated by the Maritime and Port Authority of  Singapore,  participants will be taught the following:

Theory (2 sessions)

- Common Nautical Terms and Parts of a Boat
- Boat Equipment (Lifesaving and Fire Fighting Equipment)
- Use of Charts and Principal Aids to Navigation in Port Waters
- Regulations for Prevention of Collision at Sea
- Emergency Procedures and Safe Practices
- Pleasure Craft Regulations
- Singapore Port Regulations

Practical (1 session)

- Practical Boat Handling such as Berthing and Unberthing
- Rescue of Survivor from the Sea (Man-Overboard Situation)
- Practical Navigation

The theory sessions will be conducted in a well-equipped classroom while the practical sessions will be conducted in the waters at the vicinity of Water-Venture(Changi), which is an ideal location for one to learn the basics and essentials of practical boat handling.

Throughout the whole course, you will be taught and guided by experienced and proficient instructors.

Upon Completion of the training course, participants can booked for a theory test date and subsequently a practical test date. Successfully participants will be awarded with a PPCDL issued by the Maritime Port Authorities.
